Alliances

Following keen interest expressed by patient leaders at the iCSi Madrid meeting in 2003, iCSi has established sub groups in world regions. Infertility Alliances have been established in Africa, the Americas, the Asia-Pacific and Europe.

iCSi Infertility Alliances bring together patient leaders in their respective world regions, to exchange information and ideas throughout the year and work together to raise awareness about barriers to infertility treatment as they seek to influence governments worldwide to fight for equity of access to infertility treatment.

These iCSi Infertility Alliances embrace the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights which recognises that, "Men and women of full age, without any limitation due to race, nationality or religion, have the right to marry and found a family" (Article 16.1). This is mirrored in the European Convention on Human Rights (Articles 8 & 12) which guarantees respect for family life and the right to found a family.

The International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights also recognises the right of everyone "to enjoy the benefits of scientific progress and its applications (Article 15.1.b).
